Orange Pekoe Tea ! What is orange pekoe tea. In recent times this question gets asked a lot in the press ... so here is the answer.

Orange Pekoe is a grade of tea with the leaf size shown in the picture on the right.

Very often people associate Ceylon Tea with being "Orange Pekoe" , but it is only referring to the grade. You get orange pekoe grade teas from many countries.

The grading of tea takes you from tea dusts at the low end to the finest large leaf teas. Full details of all grades can be found on our tea terminology page

Press releases talk of Orange Pekoe Tea being good for you ! Well drinking tea in general is good for you especially if it is the least processed varieties like Green Teas
and White Teas.

From Ceylon we have : Ceylon Orange Pekoe Tea from the Dimbula, Kandy and Nuwara Eilya districts which have lovely large dark coloured leaves. When we pack
our Ceylon Tea Bags however we use a Broken Orange Pekoe Tea which has a smaller leaf size and can flow through our tea bag machine.
