Description

Assam Decaffeinated Loose Tea TGFOP1 (Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe) is a Decaf Black Tea from Assam State, India.

It has undergone the Co2 decaffeination method, which is the safest and most efficient way to extract caffeine particles from Tea leaves. This has little influence on the taste - best-described as strong, dark and malty with chocolatey notes.

While a minimal amount of caffeine remains - as is the case with all types of Decaf Tea - between 96% and 98% has been removed. Our Decaffeinated Assam Tea, as a result, is an excellent choice for those looking to cut down their intake.

Indeed, whatever your reason for avoiding significant caffeine levels, you’ve decided well here. We pack this Loose Leaf Tea fresh to order here at our Kent-based factory.

How does the Co2 Decaffeination Method Work?

This processing method functions by using pressurised liquid carbon dioxide (Co2) to extract the small caffeine molecules. The reason it is safer is that it steers clear of potentially harmful solvents and instead utilises natural Co2.

Its efficiency, meanwhile, comes about because it leaves the larger flavour molecules almost entirely intact, meaning that, ultimately, its great taste isn’t affected by the process.

Why is the Tea Grade Important?

We’ve established that “TGFOP1” stands for Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe. But what, exactly, does it mean? This is a Tea Grade with high tippy content, which tends to have a somewhat more delicate flavour than BOP (Broken Orange Pekoe).

It also consists of the top bud and the first two leaves of each new shoot. In other words, it is nothing but the best when you buy Decaffeinated Assam Tea.

How to Brew Assam Decaffeinated Loose Tea TGFOP1

1, Add Loose Leaf Tea to a Tea Infuser or Filter.

2, Place the Tea-filled accessory in a cup or mug.

3, Put the kettle on and, once boiled, pour it over the leaves.

4, Allow it to steep for 3-5 minutes.

5, How to Serve: Milk, sugar, honey or lemon - the choice is yours. Alternatively, serve black.

Health Benefits of Decaf Assam Loose Tea

There is a common misconception that Decaf Assam Loose Tea - and, indeed, any Tea that undergoes decaffeination - is void of antioxidants. While it is true to some degree, it’s essential to note that there are enough of these chemical compounds to promote your health and wellbeing.

Antioxidants combat free radicals in the body, thereby reducing the risk of developing numerous chronic conditions.

And that’s just the beginning. One study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences indicates that Black Tea, regardless of the type, maintains the immune system.

A collaborative research project conducted in both the USA and Sweden, meanwhile, concluded that Tea protected your teeth. Perhaps better still, evidence of it having minor anti-cancer effects appears promising.

  10. It does the job, it's got the maltiness I expected but it's not as strong as I would like for an assam, I find I use much more tea than usual but maybe something to do with the decaffeinating process? (first ever decaff loose leaf black tea)
