Dragon Well Tea (also known as Longjing Tea) is one of the most famous types of Green Tea to come from China. Its name alone evokes images of mightiness with elements of virtue and harmony.

Such is the case, some might say, when you brew up a cup of this delightful infusion. Why not discover for yourself with The Kent and Sussex Tea and Coffee Company? We take pride in packing it fresh to order.

What is Dragon Well Green Tea?

The village of Longjing, located in the Zhejiang province, is where the story of Chinese Dragon Well Tea started. This took place during the Qing dynasty (1644-1912).

According to legend, if someone peered into the local well, they would see dragons circling the water. Such an occurrence wasn’t a cause for concern; it was, in fact, seen as a symbol of auspiciousness and longevity.

Dragon Well Tea Plantations

The good luck found in the waters of Longjing eventually found its way to the fields of Tea growing nearby. The area has since become a popular tourist attraction, particularly in the harvest season in the spring.

Should you wish to visit some Dragon Well Tea Plantations, you can expect to be immersed in a rich culture and history. But what does Dragon Well Tea taste like?

When brewed, it has a sweet, rounded and wholesome flavour with notes reminiscent of nuts and butter. Casual drinkers and connoisseurs alike choose it for its outstanding reputation.

You might still be wondering about caffeine in Dragon Well Green Tea. How much of this stimulating chemical compound does it contain?

The estimate is around 30-mg per 8-oz serving, which could play a small role in getting you out of bed in the morning. The bottom line is that whatever you’re looking for in your soon-to-be favourite cuppa, you’ve surely found it here.

Tasting Notes: Imparts a sweet, grassy flavour with notes reminiscent of nuts and butter.

Dragon Well Tea Benefits

Dragon Well Green Tea Benefits the mind, body and soul in a plethora of ways. It contains a considerable amount of Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), an antioxidant with huge potential.

Research suggests that EGCG improves cardiovascular (heart) health, supports the immune system and aids digestion. Perhaps even more remarkable, there is the possibility of it promoting weight loss.

Are you hoping to drop a few extra pounds, especially around the waistline? This delectable beverage could provide support. This is because, according to preliminary evidence (emphasis on “preliminary”), it boosts the metabolism of fat cells.

The belief is that it enables the body to burn fat quicker and more efficiently. As a result, there is an increased chance of you fitting into your special jeans again!

Effect of Dragon Well Tea on Blood Pressure

One meta-analysis looked into twenty-five randomised controlled trials (considered the “gold standard” in modern science), the findings of which appear to be promising.

It discovered that, while a short term application of it has a limited impact, long term use can have a significant influence.

  8. By far the worst ‘standard grade’ longjing tea I have come across. There is plenty of far higher quality ‘standard grade’ longjing tea available from other reputable companies. I feel that kent and sussex ‘superior grades’ will be the equivalent of other widely available ‘standard grades’ which is quite unacceptable really.
