Description

French Roast Coffee is a Dark Roasted Coffee. It boasts an intensely bittersweet flavour with notes of almond and toast. Those who like a hearty cuppa have chosen well here.

We make it using the latest state-of-the-art Neuhaus Neotec fluidised air-bed system, which primarily uses heat transference to roast the beans. We then pack it fresh to order, ensuring the refreshing taste of quality.

The Story Behind Roasted French Coffee Beans

The term “French Roast” refers not to the origin of the beans, which come from Colombia, but to the roasting method applied to them. The process was first created in France. It involves a high temperature (465°F – 485°F) that brings the natural oils in the beans to the surface.

While lacking the acidity of lighter roasts, these are shinier and oilier in appearance, creating distinct characteristics when brewed.

Difference Between French Roast and Italian Roast

But what’s the difference between a French Roast Coffee and an Italian Roast Coffee? The latter is much darker and oilier than the former. This is despite the fact that both varieties have undergone dark-roasting.

Italian Coffee, however, experiences roasting for longer and, as a result, is also much stronger and has a more bitter flavour. Roasting goes further to influence caffeine and antioxidants.

Does French Coffee Have Caffeine?

French Roast does, indeed, have caffeine, this stimulating chemical compound famously provides an often much-needed energy boost when consumed, helping us get out of bed in the morning.

The average serving boasts around 100-mg. The fact that it uses only the finest Arabica Beans, too, influences the amount of caffeine within.

The Advantage of Arabica Coffee Beans

These remarkable beans originate from the Coffea arabica species of the Coffea plant. They are typically an older and more mature type of bean considered to be of better quality than Robusta Beans. It’s worth noting, however, that they have slightly less caffeine (1.5%).

But worry not. This delicious and wholesome infusion will, undoubtedly, help you to start your day the right way.

Origin: Colombia, South America.

  4. Very flavoursome. Roasted darker than most single bean coffees but a more agreeable taste than continental blend.

  5. Took two weeks from placing order to finally receive it. Yes, the coffee is nice but too slow to despatch it.

  6. Well this was a pleasant surprise! Hits all the spots! The aroma reminded me of my childhood back in the 70's and the sound of the coffee peculator! Flavour is wonderful and as for the aroma... wow, aromachology at it's best :)

  8. I think this will become my favourite. A good strong but smooth flavour. Dark and strong but not bitter.

  9. Just like drinking burnt mud. Made my coffee machine and cup filthy and stain. I ground it all up and put in the veg patch to assist the soil. Best place for that one. Definitely not a good coffee for me.
