Description

Let’s get started with our very own Rooibos Pineapple and Lemon Sorbet tea! This refreshing and invigorating brew is truly sunshine in a cup as you savour the fruity delights cascading around your palette. A fresh and bright cup of tea with irresistible tastes of creamy Lemon Sorbet and tropical pineapple, with the addition of delightful vanilla notes to finish things off.

This blend is a perfect choice for an afternoon tea relaxing on your sunbed as you bask in the warm glow of Summer.

Rooibos tea shares a long and expansive history with the tea industry despite not technically being a ‘tea’! In fact, Rooibos comes from an altogether different plant - Aspalathus Linearis – which is only grown in the Cederberg Region of South Africa.

Also known as ‘Red Bush’, ‘Bush Tea’, and ‘Red Tea’, this unique brew has recently exploded onto the market with demand increasing by approximately 50% in the last few years.

Known for being a caffeine free choice of beverage, as well as being low in tannins and full of antioxidants. However, Rooibos Tea had slightly more humble beginnings when it was consumed by the Khoisans, the indigenous population of the Cederberg Region who used its leaves for herbal remedies hundreds of years ago.

Its usage might have long since faded if it had not been for a botanist by the name of Carl Humberg, who revived the consumption of Rooibos after European Colonisation threatened the Khoisan’s way of life.

History of this Tea

By the early 20th Century, a Russian immigrant with ties to tea manufacturing, Benjamin Ginsberg, began marketing the drink as an herbal alternative to tea. Soon, Rooibos was being consumed across the world as people began to realise its true potential.

This was further boosted by the Second World War, where Imperialist Japanese forces occupying the Asian continent caused great upheaval in the importing of tea. The west subsequently turned to South Africa for its tea needs despite the demand far surpassing the availability.

Despite its occasionally shaky history, Rooibos has since prevailed to become one of the leading blends in the tea industry.
