The Snow View Tea Easte
The Snow View Tea Estate is located between the mountains of Bhutan and the flat Himalayan plains. Established in 1870, it is named after the snowcapped Himalayan peaks visible from the garden on clear days.
The estate is surrounded by three forest reserves, Gorumara, Jaldakah, and Chapramari. The Moortee river runs along its lower edge. This area is rich in wildlife, with elephants, bison, leopards, rhinos, wild deer, and wild boar sometimes seen in the gardens.
Snow View lies on the path of migrating elephants, who cross the estate to reach the river. To help protect these animals, the estate works with The Wildlife Enterprise, an organisation focused on elephant conservation.
In 2020, Snow View became the first tea garden in Darjeeling to earn the Elephant Friendly Tea Garden certification.
Situated at 1,000 metres above sea level and covering 600 hectares, Snow View Tea Estate is home to 700 workers and their families. Today, it continues to produce high-quality tea while caring for its people and the surrounding environment.
Brewing 2025 Snow View Darjeeling First Flush Tea
To fully appreciate the exquisite qualities of the 2025 Snow View Darjeeling First Flush Tea, it is essential to ensure the correct brewing technique is followed. This simple guide guarantees that every cup embodies the tea’s distinctive characteristics, delivering a delightful and uplifting experience.
- Water Quality and Temperature: Begin with fresh, filtered water. Heat to just below boiling, around 85°C, allowing the tea’s delicate flavours to unfurl without bitterness.
- Tea Quantity: Use one teaspoon of per cup (approximately 240ml). Adjust according to personal taste, ensuring more tea rather than more brewing time if a stronger infusion is preferred.
- Steeping Time: Pour the heated water over the tea leaves and let them steep for 2 to 3 minutes. This allows the aromatic notes and bright liquor to develop fully.
- Strain and Enjoy: Once steeped to perfection, strain and pour the tea into your favourite cup. Take a moment to savour the tantalising citrus aroma before indulging in your first sip.
- Experience: Appreciate the vibrant hues and refreshing taste, feeling invigorated and connected to the spirit of the Snow View Tea Garden with each cup.
Relax, sit back, and let the rich history and dedication to quality transport you to the serene landscapes of Darjeeling. Enjoy as it brings a piece of the Himalayas to your home.
