Oxford Street began as a Roman road between Hampshire and Essex via London. It became known as Tyburn Road during the Medieval era. By the 18th century, the name changed to Oxford Road and later to its present-day Oxford Street.

It was around this time that the area transformed from being predominantly residential to a popular commercial hub.

Oxford Street suffered significant damage throughout much of the Second World War. However, it has since recovered.

Now, this much-loved part of London hosts many fashionable shops. It is also a great place for an Afternoon Tea in Oxford Street.
