Historically, it started as an Anglo-Saxon settlement. It later became a small farming community on the very edge of the Windsor Forest. Life changed very little until the 19th century.

This was when large sections of land were sold for the building of the Royal Military College. Although this eventually moved to Marlow in 1812, the Royal Military Academy has since taken its place.

Today, the town itself consists of four primary districts: Little Sandhurst, Sandhurst (central), College Town and Owlsmoor. On your next visit here, why not have an Afternoon Tea in Sandhurst? There is nothing quite like a cuppa with a slice of cake and scones to hand!
