You’ve arrived in Polegate, a town and civil parish in the Wealden district of East Sussex, England. Some five miles away is the famous seaside resort of Eastbourne, with Polegate making up a part of its greater area.
However, you don’t need to go that far to enjoy an Afternoon Tea in Polegate. A nice, hot cuppa with cake, scones and sandwiches? Who could possibly say no?
Sorry, we do not currently have any places for afternoon tea in this region. If you would like to submit your business to be listed in this area please Fill out our listing form here.
While this area started to develop during the Roman times, it didn’t become a thriving settlement until the 1840s. This was due to the arrival of the railway between Lewes and Hastings, with later branches to Eastbourne and Hailsham.
Polegate became a significant junction and grew rapidly to accommodate railway employees.
Sadly, the frequent trains passing through this much-loved town ceased following the Beeching cuts of the 1960s.
However, there are still plenty of activities found nearby to keep visitors content. This, of course, includes stopping in an Afternoon Tea Polegate venue for a spot of lunch.
