During the Medieval era, this area became one of the main ports serving Southern England. It later served as a “Limb” of Hastings through the confederation of the Cinque Ports.

Unfortunately, the town’s fortunes declined following coastal sedimentation silting up its harbour. It was also subjected to numerous raids by French pirates.

Thankfully, by the 19th century, the arrival of the railway saw it once again becoming a thriving settlement. Nowadays, having an Afternoon Tea in Seaford is an excellent choice. Indeed, you can expect professional service and a friendly face in whichever establishment you decide upon.
