Hundreds of years later, during the English Civil War, the town became a base of operations for Oliver Cromwell. In fact, some believe that the infamous Battle of Edge Hill was planned in a local inn on the highstreet! Nowadays, having an Afternoon Tea in Banbury is a great choice.
