Epson finds itself some 14 miles south-west of London, between Ashtead and Ewell. It was once a settlement of Anglo-Saxon England, and later appeared in the 1086 Domesday Book as “Evesham”, then held by Chertsey Abbey.

By the Hanoverian era, it had become a popular spa town. During this time, Epsom salt (magnesium sulphate) was originally prepared by boiling down waters from the surrounding area.

This much-loved product has since taken on the town’s name. Just be sure to stop at an Afternoon Tea Epsom establishment before bath time!
