The oldest references of Haslemere date back to 1221 when it was under the administration of nearby Godalming. Its name refers to hazel trees standing beside a mere (lake), which sadly has since disappeared. For much of the town’s existence, the main settlement stood on Haste Hill.

During Victorian Britain, it became a popular place to live as an early form of a commuter town. This remains the case to this day, although there are several reasons to stay exactly where you are.

Indeed, there is no need to venture too far with plenty of Afternoon Tea Haslemere establishments to choose from.
