Historical evidence clearly indicates that a monastery once stood in the area of modern-day Padstow. However, it was raided by the Vikings in 981 CE, which might have led to it moving inland to Bodmin.

The community was eventually recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 as being held by Bodmin Monastery. More recently, it has a close association with the famous restaurateur, Rick Stein. If that doesn’t make you hungry, then what will? Visit an Afternoon Tea Padlow venue today!
