The earliest mention of Stratton exists in King Alfred’s Will of c. 880 CE, with it later appearing in the Domesday survey of 1086. During the medieval era, it grew into a hub for leather and agricultural trade.

Then, in May 1643, the town became the site of an infamous battle between Royalist and Parliamentarian forces. Now, however, it’s arguably better known for several Afternoon Tea Stratton venues.
