Welcome to Colyton, a town in Devon, South West England, on the River Coly. It lies 3 miles from Seaton and 6 miles from Axminster – known to many as “the most rebellious town in Devon”.

This nickname refers to the sheer number of inhabitants who joined the Monmouth Rebellion in 1685. If acts of sedition aren’t high on your list of priorities, however, there’s always the far more peaceful option of having an Afternoon Tea in Colyton. Why not pick a venue from the list below?

Sorry, we do not currently have any places for afternoon tea in this region. If you would like to submit your business to be listed in this area please Fill out our listing form here.

Colyton first appeared as a small settlement around 700 CE, later featuring in the Domesday Book as “Culitone”. It grew into an essential agricultural hub for the region before becoming a popular market town.

A corn mill, sawmill, iron foundry and an oak bark tannery would go on to play a significant role in the local economy. Nowadays, tourism has a far greater influence, which, of course, includes several Afternoon Tea Colystone Tearooms. Lunch, anyone?
