Brewing instructions

Assam Tea Broken Orange Pekoe is a Black Tea from the Indian state of Assam. The term “Broken Orange Pekoe” (BOP) refers to how the leaves have, quite literally, been broken into smaller pieces. The primary reason for doing this is to ensure it boasts a strong, indeed hearty, flavour with every sip. When brewed, this beverage has a bold malty flavour with sweet undertones.

The Kent and Sussex Tea and Coffee Company pack our Assam Tea Broken Orange Pekoe, like all of our products, fresh to order. This is our way of guaranteeing not only quality but also consistency with every cuppa made. What more could you want from your new favourite infusion?

More About Assam Tea

Unlike Chinese Tea, which dates back thousands of years, Assam Tea only came into existence in 1823. This was when a Scottish explorer called Robert Bruce discovered an Indian variety of the Tea plant growing in Assam. Since then, the beverage that has taken on the name of this state has proven to be immensely popular around the world.

The region itself lies to the northeast of the country and is dominated by the mighty River Brahmaputra. The free-flowing water from here makes the Assam Valley remarkably fertile, which in turn helps to produce characteristically strong and malty Tea. If you’re interested in discovering its potential, look no further than our Assam Tea Broken Orange Pekoe.

  1. Best Assam tea I've ever bought, it's the full malty flavour which Assam should have yet unlike all other brands I've previously bought, this has a lovely softness to it -- the harsh almost bitter tone of others is absent! I shall stick with this brand in future.
