Fruit Tisanes News

Fruit Tisanes could arguably be considered the ‘Trojan horse’ of the tea world. This is due to its outstanding popularity among tea drinkers despite the fact that these blends do not contain leaves from the Camellia Sinensis plant, - thus dubbing it the “non-tea”.

There are many claimed origins to the term ‘Tisane’, including the Greek word ‘ptisane’, which refers to a beverage made from the crushed grains of pearl barley. A more popular theory originates from France with the French word for ‘herbal infusion’. Whichever story you choose to believe, it can be certain that this delicious Fruit Tisanes have snuck its way into the hearts of tea drinkers across the globe.

In fact, for many centuries, the term “tea” has found itself used to describe a far broader spectrum than was originally intended. One such conception begins with the experience of the American colonies during the Revolutionary war.

During this time, genuine tea was immensely popular in the soon-to-be United States until increased taxation of its importation became symbolic of the crippling control that the British crown had over its subjects 3000 miles away. The colonists began to improvise with what they called “freedom tea” and “herbal tea”, which in truth contained no tea at all but instead sourced ingredients locally without import fees. There are many more cases of this occurring across history but since then, Tisanes, and later Fruit Tisanes, have acquired the respect they so deserve.
