First, its phytochemicals could affect the neurotransmitters in the brain, including monoamine transmitters such as serotonin and dopamine. This in itself, could improve sleep, enhance mood and relieve mild depression. Second, these very same phytochemicals might work with GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) receptors in the central nervous system to promote a state of calmness.
Third, this Tea might support neurohormones, which are responsible for inducing sleep. The most vital neurohormone involved is melatonin, which is released into the body as a response to darkness. Ultimately, melatonin regulates our wake-sleep cycle. Linden Tea, meanwhile, could help melatonin to maintain this wake-sleep cycle.
