Avoid unpleasant hangovers with our Jamaican Rum Iced Fruit Tisane while also enjoying much of the same flavour. Experience a soulful infusion well-suited to days out in the garden with the sun shining high. What more could you want from your summer?

What Does 'Tisane' Mean?

A Tisane is a beverage that does not contain leaves from the Camellia sinensis (Tea) plant. This means that infusions like Herbal Tea and Fruit Tea are not technically "Teas" in the conventional sense. The name "Tea", however, has stuck.

Tisanes most commonly do not contain caffeine because of the absence of Tea leaves. Our Jamaican Rum Iced Tea is one such example. Because of this, many people who are sensitive to caffeine or who are pregnant choose to drink Tisanes.

The name "Tisane" has mysterious origins. Some suggest it comes from the Greek Word "ptisanē", which refers to a drink made from the crushed grains of pearl barley. Another theory suggests that it comes from two French words, "Thé" ("Tea") and "Sans" ("Without"). The word "Thé", spelt phonetically, is "Ti". Put the two together and add an "e" and one has "Tisane".

What is Iced Tea?

Iced Tea is exactly what the name suggests: a Tea cooled using ice. It has become increasingly popular in recent years as people branch away from traditional Tea consumption. Though hot Tea drinks still reign supreme, Iced Teas have started to take the world by storm.

An American named Richard Blechynden popularised Iced Tea at the 1904 World's Fair held in St Louis, USA. On the first day of the event, one of the hottest days of the year, he decided to pour ice over his Tea samples. It proved a tremendous success. Indeed, it eventually gave rise to exceptional brews such as our very own Jamaican Rum Iced Fruit Tisane.

Tasting Notes: Tart but sweet, flavoursome but not overpowering, our Jamaican Rum Tea has acquired its name for a reason: it tastes like a wonderfully fruity rum!

Health Benefits of Jamaican Rum Iced Fruit Tisane

Contrary to popular belief, Fruit Tisanes do, indeed, have health benefits. However, it very much depends on one's perspective. From where we stand, Jamaican Rum Fruit Tisane is an excellent alternative to more sugary beverages such as fizzy soft drinks. Best of all, this comes without compromising on flavour.
