Description

English Breakfast Tea BOP is a delicious blend of Assam and Ceylon Tea. It has a bold, malty character both in flavour and aroma, as well as slightly sweet undertones. We pack it fresh to order here at our Pluckley-based factory, nestled within the beautiful Kentish countryside.

This is our way of guaranteeing not only quality but also consistency. What more could you want from your new favourite infusion?

The term “BOP”, meanwhile, stands for “Broken Orange Pekoe”. This refers to how the leaves have, quite literally, been broken into smaller pieces. The primary reason for doing this is to ensure it boasts a strong, indeed hearty, flavour with every sip.

Our English Breakfast Tea BOP offers this and much, much more. Why not discover its true potential today?

The History of English Breakfast Tea

This blend has long had a close association with English upper-class gentry. However, it likely originated from Scotland! Some records suggest that it was a Tea master called Robert Drysdale who first came up with the concept, dubbing his creation “Breakfast Tea”. The name of it, in fact, only changed after Queen Victoria paid a visit to the Scotsman, resulting in the word “English” being added to it!

Yet there is another theory - one that alludes to Breakfast Tea first coming into existence in the US! According to this tale, it was the brainchild of Richard Davies, an American living in New York City in 1843.

Davies, attempting to lure a somewhat “classier” clientele, decided the name “English Breakfast Tea” would prove popular. If this story is to be believed, then he certainly wasn’t wrong!

Whatever the truth of its origins might be, one thing remains certain: English Breakfast Tea is the most famous Tea blend in the world. Buy and brew from The Kent and Sussex Tea and Coffee Company. You won’t be disappointed by what’s on offer here.

Benefits of English Breakfast Tea BOP

Research suggests that this beverage might, although not yet proven outright, reduce the risk of developing dementia and Alzheimer's disease.

Evidence exists in a study conducted by the University of Singapore and published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

The project saw some 2,500 participants aged 55 or over undergo cognitive measuring. Two years later, scientists remeasured every volunteer involved.

The results established that participants who drank two or three cups of Black Tea a day had a 55% lower chance of suffering from cognitive decline. Those who drank six to ten cups a day, meanwhile, had up to a 63% lower chance.
