All of our Coffees are roasted using the latest state-of-the-art Neuhaus Neotec fluidised air-bed system, which primarily uses convection heat transfer to roast the beans.
Once roasted, every Coffee, as well as every Tea, as well as every Fruit or Herbal Tisane, is packed fresh to order here in our Pluckley-based factory, which is nestled away within the stunning vistas of the Kentish countryside. Flavoured Coffees, to many, are a seemingly new concept; however, they have existed for centuries, predominantly outside of the West. Berries and nuts were frequently added to Coffees to add extra flavour. Today, however, advances in technology allow flavour to be added directly to the beans themselves.
Unlike adding flavoured syrup to your conventional Coffee, using Flavoured Coffee Beans offers slightly more subtle and generally more natural-tasting flavour notes. Some argue this marks the quality of the bean, which might be the case with some companies, but not with The Kent and Sussex Tea and Coffee Company. We use only the finest quality Arabica Coffee Beans with all of our Flavoured Coffees.
Arabica beans are the product of the Coffea arabica species of the Coffea plant. These beans are often an older, more mature type of bean, one considered to be of better quality compared to Robusta beans. Brewed Arabica beans have characteristically heavy aromas with smoother tastes and less caffeine (1.5% caffeine content) compared to Robusta beans.
The differences in chemical make up do not stop at caffeine, however, as Arabica beans also contain 60% more lipids and almost twice the amount of natural sugars than Robusta beans do. The Arabica bean itself, meanwhile, is long in appearance with a more curved central cut. It takes ten months to ripen before being ready for harvest.
