Description

Chrysanthemum Flower Tea is a type of Herbal Tea. It offers distinct floral notes with every sip, accompanied by sweet undertones and a refreshing aftertaste. The beauty of it is unparalleled.

Why not find out for yourself with The Kent and Sussex Tea and Coffee Company? We pack it fresh to order, thus ensuring quality and consistency with every cuppa brewed.

China is the biggest producer and consumer of these flowers. However, their demand has since spread around the world due, in part, to their well-documented Chrysanthemum Tea Benefits.

Many other people choose this infusion as a caffeine-free alternative to “real” Tea (Camellia sinensis). Whatever your reason for buying it, you’re undoubtedly in for a truly indulgent treat.

What is Chrysanthemum Flower Tea?

These flowers are, according to statistics, the second most popular after roses. Around 40 species of the plant exist in the wild, 17 of which come from China. Of these, four have become widespread for their medicinal qualities, particularly in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

Yet modern science, too, has seen the potential in this remarkable, nutritional beverage.

Chrysanthemum Tea, alongside other consumables made from the flower, has an integral part to play in the Chongyang Festival. This event (also known as the Double Ninth Festival) falls in line with the Chinese calendar.

It coincides with the ninth day of the ninth lunar month (which, according to the Gregorian calendar, typically takes place in October).

The Legend Surrounding This Herbal Tea

What makes the Chongyang Festival so important, so unique? Legend has it that a young man named Huan Jing lived in a village near the Ru River in Henan province. One fateful day, his community suffered from a great plague inflicted by a demon living in the nearby waters. The young man, as a result, tragically lost his parents to the disease.

Enraged by the death of his family, Huan Jing decided to seek counsel from an immortal sage. The journey to find this wise man, however, proved to be tumultuous.

Nevertheless, after overcoming various obstacles, the young man succeeded in his endeavours. Upon meeting the sage, Huan Jing discovered that the demon would return on the ninth day of the ninth lunar month.

Huan Jing, perhaps most importantly, found out how to kill the beast. He returned home and, in turn, informed his fellow villagers to climb the local mountain with chrysanthemum liquor to hand.

When the demon emerged from the water, the scent of the flower dazzled it. And so, with one swift stroke of his sword, Huan Jing killed the creature while it remained in a stupor.

Chrysanthemum Flowers Saved the Day

Chrysanthemum Flowers had saved the village from yet another unforgiving plague. Better still, they had also ensured that the demon would never return.

Today, the Chongyang Festival highlights, among other elements, the full potential of Chrysanthemum Benefits.

Nowadays, however, we worry less about demons and more about this infusion’s exceptional taste.

  1. So glad I've come across this company because of their wide selection of excellent quality teas/tea leaves. Had purchased chrysanthemum teas from different brands and taste-tested them with my family, side by side, and Kent & Sussex Tea came out as the winner for both taste, scent, and quality! You get what you paid for, higher price = higher quality and it's worth every penny! Highly recommend!

  10. I love this tea, and previously I'd only found it in crystal form. The whole dried flower version was amazing, and the flavor had a complexity I hadn't noticed in the 'instant' version.
