When we think of Flavoured Green Tea, we think of it as a relatively “new invention”, which is simply not true! In fact, it dates back to, at least, the Han dynasty (206 BCE - 220 CE) if not before. Similar to today, herbs, spices, and fruits were added to infusions for extra flavour, the most famous tea, one from India, not China, being Chai Tea.
Chai Tea was first made without tea leaves although this changed under the rule of the British Raj, who enforced tea breaks in factories, textile mills, and mines across India to boost the tea economy. Despite its shaky history, Chai Teas are now known and loved around the world.
And then there is Earl Grey, perhaps the most famous flavoured tea of them all. Why it was called “Earl Grey” remains a mystery despite many tales, but nevertheless, the name has stuck and evokes images of English upper class gentry; of lavish banquet halls and tea trays adorned with beautifully decorated teacups. But what about Cinnamon and Plum Green Tea? We’ll let you be the judge of that!

Health Benefits: We have all read about it on the internet, but is any of it true? Yes, there are some truly astounding health benefits when you consume any Green Tea, flavoured or unflavoured, on a frequent basis. For example, all Green Teas contain an incredible antioxidant called Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). This compound found also found in Cinnamon and Plum Green Tea helps to combat free radicals in the body.
Free radicals are the product of oxidation, which can lead to complications such as heart disease. When antioxidants enter the body through Green Tea consumption, however, free radicals are often neutralised, thus reducing the risks of such conditions.
Furthermore, Cinnamon and Plum Green Tea could be the answer to improving your weight management. This is because Green Tea boosts the metabolism, allowing the body to burn fat far more quickly, and far more efficiently. Drinking just three cups of Cinnamon and Plum Green Tea a day alongside a healthy and active lifestyle could potentially improve your chances of losing weight.
