About the Giddapahar Tea Estate

The name "Giddapahar", translated, means "Eagles Cliff or "Eagle's Mountain". This refers to the Estate's ideal location, between 4,500 and 5,200 feet above sea level. This is just one factor that contributes significantly to the quality of its Tea. Another factor worth noting is that most of its Tea plants are of the Chinese Camellia sinensis var sinensis variety.

Furthermore, since 1881, Giddapahar has been under the management and ownership of the Shaw family. Four generations later and the Shaws continue to impress with their duties to this outstanding Estate.
