Description

This divine and delectable brew is the perfect choice for anyone wishing to satisfy their sweet tooth. Rooibos Blueberry and Yogurt is essentially a desert in a cup as you savour the luscious tastes of creamy fruity goodness. Using freeze dried yogurt granules and blueberries, as well as cranberry slices and cornflower blossoms, this heavenly blend melts in your mouth with every sip. All these wonderful ingredients combined with the rich flavours of Rooibos create a full-bodied and rich cup of South Africa’s favourite tea!

The name ‘Rooibos’ originates from the Afrikaans language and translates into ‘Red Bush’, which refers to a unique scrub only grown in the Cederberg region of South Africa. The scientific name for this shrub is ‘Aspalathus Linearis’, meaning Rooibos isn’t technically a tea at all! In fact, Rooibos Tea is actually an herb that has been nurtured by the tea industry for almost 250 years.

The story begins long before Europeans set foot on the continent, however, with Rooibos originally used by the Khoisans; the indigenous population found in the Cederberg region. These tribespeople used Rooibos for herbal remedies until colonisation threatened their way of life and their numbers began to dwindle. By 1772, it seemed the use of Rooibos had all but faded from existence until a botanist by the name of Carl Humberg rediscovered the leaves, prompting a revived and more widespread interest in the tea-like beverage. Since then, Rooibos tea’s popularity has been growing steadily with the demand for this blend increasing by more than fifty percent in recent years.

Type of tea: Loose Leaf Rooibos.

Origin: The Cederberg Region, South Africa.

Brewing Instructions: Brew using freshly boiled water and infuse for 8 to 10 minutes.

How to Serve: Lemon can be an optional extra for this beverage although it can also be simply enjoyed as it is.

Tasting Notes: Savour the smooth taste of this fruity and flavoursome blend as you take your first sip. Enjoy the sweet creamy texture of yogurt beautifully infusing with the blueberries before the subtle taste of cranberries seeps through, leaving a delicious aftertaste.

Colour in Cup: Golden Brown liquor, light in tone.

Rooibos Tea Health Benefits: If the allergy season is fast approaching, consider drinking Rooibos tea to fight away the sniffles! Although scientific studies are still very much in their preliminary stages, initial research indicates a correlation between Rooibos tea consumption and reduced symptoms in allergies. This is largely considered to be due to the bioflavonoid, quercetin, which is found in Rooibos tea and is thought to block the release of histamine from mast cells. Whilst it is important that you consult a doctor before trying any alternative treatments to your ailments, Rooibos tea has also been proven to help reduce the risk of diabetes, as well as improving cardiovascular and bone health and even decreasing the effects of premature aging!

Contains Allergen: Milk Yogurt
