Description

Darjeeling Goomtee First Flush Tea 2020 is a type of Indian Black Tea from the district of the same name. Specifically, it starts off at the Goomtee Estate, which has long held an outstanding reputation for the Tea it makes. This particular infusion is, of course, no exception, going above and beyond in every sense of the phrase. It consists of light-green leaves with silver tips, which, when brewed, boast a golden liquor.

Most essential, though, is its taste. Expect bold, slightly vegetal notes with every sip - a true delight from start to finish. It contains a sizable amount of caffeine, too, making it an excellent choice first thing in the morning.

We pack it fresh to order here at our Pluckley-based factory, nestled away within the stunning vistas of the Kentish countryside. This ensures not only quality but also consistency.

About The Darjeeling Goomtee Tea Estate

This remarkable garden grows its Tea on mountain slopes between 3,000 and 6,000 feet above sea level. The area has cool, moderate temperatures and generous rainfall, making it the perfect environment for producing.

It was a British pioneer named Mr Henry Lennox who established Goomtee in 1899. He eventually passed its ownership over to Mr G.W. O’Brien.

When the Second World War ended in 1945, Goomtee changed hands again - this time to Nepal’s ruling Rana dynasty. The family held onto it for several years before passing it on to an Indian entrepreneur called Mr Mahabir Prasad.

A significant amount of modernising of the estate’s facilities took place in the 1950s. Now, however, the current management under Mr Ashok Kumar focuses on traditional methods.
