Chesham finds itself in the Chess Valley surrounded by quintessentially English countryside and farmland. Evidence suggests that a settlement was established here during the late 10th century.
Before then, however, humans had lived in the area since 8,000 BCE. By 1257, under Henry III, Chesham received a royal charter for a weekly market.
From the 16th century to now, development has been strong and consistent. Throughout the Second World War, in particular, it became a hub for skilled labour and industry expansion.
Nowadays, there are many reasons to visit. Stopping in an Afternoon Tea Chesham venue for lunch is but one example. A fun day out here is practically guaranteed!
