Welcome to Somerset, a county in South West England known for its rolling hills, rich history and idyllic towns and villages. What’s more, when it comes to having an Afternoon Tea in Somerset, there is a plethora of choice!

It borders Gloucestershire and Bristol to the north, Wiltshire to the east, Dorset to the south-east and Devon to the south-west. The county town is Taunton, with other places of interest including Bath, Weston-super-Mare, Yeovil and Bridgwater. Wherever you go, no matter what you do, you’re bound to find a wonderful place to stop for lunch!

Archaeological evidence suggests that humans have inhabited the Somerset area since at least Paleolithic times, with subsequent settlement by the Celts, Romans and Anglo-Saxons.

The county played a significant role in Alfred the Great’s rise to power, as well as the English Civil War and the Monmouth Rebellion centuries later. Arguably most famous is the city of Bath, which today is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
