Slough largely developed during the 19th and 20th centuries, combining several nearby villages, mainly in Buckinghamshire. Much of its expansion took place along the Great West Road.
Growth was further accelerated by the construction of the Great Western Railway and later by the Slough Trading Estate. Until 1974, the town was part of Buckinghamshire.
As of the 21st century, Slough has been subject to a major redevelopment of its town centre. This has given rise to a number of new Afternoon Tea Slough establishments. On your next visit here, why not stop in one for lunch? You won’t regret it!
