This is a Chinese Matcha from The Province of Zhejiang. The production of Matcha originated in the time of the Tang Dynasty (618-970). Subsequently introduced into Japan where it has become an integral part of Japanese culture and life. The main production of Matcha comes from Japan but in recent years there has been a resurgence of producing Matcha in China. This Matcha comes from the Organic Tai Shan Tea Plantation in the northern part of the coastal province of Zheijang. Like the famous Japanese Gyokuru Teas Tai Shan cover the tea bushes with netting to create shade conditions which greatly increases the plant's chlorophyll content and improves the quality. After harvesting and processing the leaves are pulverised into the very fine powder that is Matcha. The Green powder has a strong fresh aroma in cup with a good Green Tea character.
