Many historians believe that Jasmine scented Green Tea was first created over 1,000 years ago. The processing method required for its production has changed very little in that time. To this day, creating Jasmine Tea remains extremely intricate and laborious, yet equally rewarding and, in many ways, majestic. The jasmine buds used in Jasmine Green Tea are often harvested in the early afternoons of June, July, and August. These buds are hand-plucked by dutiful and experienced tea pickers who carefully select only those due to bloom that same evening.
Once collected, the jasmine buds are placed in a dry place until nightfall. At this stage, thousands upon thousands of blossoms open into the cool, fresh air, releasing a beautiful floral scent unlike any other. It is then, and only then, that the Jasmine blossoms are placed into basket trays and layered over tea leaves during what is known as the ‘scenting process’. After some hours, the tea leaves underneath will absorb the fragrance and distinctive flavour of the jasmine. Higher grade teas will often require a repeat of this process to ensure the effectiveness of the scenting. This, of course, applies to our Jasmine Tea 50 Tea Bags, a quality-assured beverage with every sip.
