Relaxing Tea

Tea has been used to calm the mind and relax since it was first discovered. Tea ceremonies in ancient China and Japan all revolved around mindfulness and relaxation. The same is true today, there’s nothing quite like sitting back and enjoying a freshly brewed cup of tea. However, some teas are better than others and the best tea for relaxation may be different for each person so try a few different brews and see which ones work for you.

One thing to bear in mind is tea is no substitute for medical advice and if you feel you are really stressed or anxious it is always best to consult your doctor.

Tea and relaxation go hand in hand. An everyday cup of tea can be used for relaxation, drinking regular cups of tea can help to keep you hydrated and just the process of brewing and drinking tea can have a calming effect. For a more dramatic calming effect, the use of herbal tea for relaxation has been found by drinkers to have a more pronounced calming effect.

Some popular relaxing herbal teas include: Camomile Flowers which is often used to treat upset stomachs and cramps but has also been shown to act as a calming agent and for relaxing muscles; and Chai tea contains all the antioxidants of tea and often contains spices such as cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg all of which help aid digestion and reduce stress.

If herbal teas aren’t your thing, then green tea may be a better option. Green tea contains an amino acid called theanine which has been studied for its relaxing effects in reducing mental and physical stress. It can also help with anxiety issues and generally improving your mood.

We offer an extensive range of herbal Teas and green teas, ideal for brewing a cup, sitting back and relaxing. Some of our favourites include, our Ayurveda Wellness Tea or our Relaxation Tea.
