Description
Guatemalan Maragogype Elephant Coffee is a Central American, high-grown, medium-roasted, washed arabica bean Coffee. It has many extraordinary qualities that transcend when brewed, offering smooth and mellow flavours with a full body and slight acidity. Grown between 1,000 and 2,000 metres, our Guatemalan Maragogype Elephant Coffee has long captivated Coffee connoisseurs around the world, and will likely captivate you, too.
While the name “Mara” in “Maragogype” originates from the Brazilian town of the same name, “Elephant” refers to the size of the bean, which as suggested, is notably large. Nevertheless, and despite its Brazilian name, Guatemalan Maragogype Elephant Coffee is unmistakably “Guatemalan” in character. It is a brew well-suited to daytime drinking and also well-suited to differing palates. Ultimately, Guatemalan Maragogype Elephant Coffee is loved by everyone.
When it comes to roasting, The Kent and Sussex Tea and Coffee Company use the latest state-of-the-art Neuhaus Neotec fluidised air-bed system, which primarily uses convection heat transfer to roast the Coffee. Knowing when a Coffee such as Guatemalan Maragogype Elephant Coffee has reached the “optimum” roasting level requires the ability to “read” the beans, often making decisions with split-second timing.
You can trust the Kent and Sussex Tea and Coffee Company when it comes to this process, as we have been roasting Coffee for over 30 years, Guatemalan Maragogype Elephant Coffee being one such Coffee, one of many, that we have “perfected” when it comes to roasting.
Coffee beans pop, crack and expand when subjected to heats between 350 °F – 400 °F, a phenomenon known as the “first crack”. Following the first crack but just before the “second crack” is where a medium-roasted Coffee lies. Medium roasts are heated from 410 °F - 430 °F, exceeding that of a Light-Medium roast.
Arguably, Medium roasts are the most common roasts. At the very least, they are an immensely popular choice made by Coffee connoisseurs, their taste best described as well-balanced, less-acidic and notably smooth. Such is the case with our Guatemalan Maragogype Elephant Coffee.
This Coffee is not the only Coffee to have “elephant” beans. Other Central American countries, such as Nicaragua, also have large beans described as “elephant beans”. However, in our opinion, elephant beans from Guatemala are some of the best around. Why don’t you find out for yourself with our Guatemalan Maragogype Elephant Coffee today? It is one of the thousands of Teas and Coffees packed fresh to order here in our Pluckley-based factory, nestled away within the stunning vistas of the Kentish countryside.
