What is Japanese Sencha Genmai Cha
Japanese Sencha Genmai Cha was once the beverage of choice for the poor. By adding rice to Green Tea, it enabled the drink to go a little further and last a little longer.
Its legendary origins, meanwhile, date back to the 15th century. According to this tale, a samurai was sipping Tea when his servant, Genmai, clumsily dropped a few grains of rice into his cup.
Out of anger, he chopped off the head of his servant. However, after he’d had time to calm down, the samurai realised that the Tea tasted even better. He immediately regretted his haste, and as such, decided to name the new infusion after his servant.
Now, of course, it doesn’t matter whether you’re rich or poor; a servant or a lord - Japanese Sencha Genmai Cha is for everyone.

Japanese Sencha Genmai Cha Benefits
Early evidence suggests that the antioxidants in Japanese Sencha Genmai Cha can improve brain function. This is according to a study conducted at the University of Basel, Switzerland, led by Prof. Stefan Borgwardt from the Psychiatric University Clinics.
The results established that Green Tea could increase the brain’s effective connectivity, referring to the causal influence that one brain area exerts over another.
Ultimately, this could mean that beverages such as this one could reduce the risk of developing Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease.

It took me 3 or 4 cups of my first Genmaicha to start to enjoy the flavour fully, now it remains a firm favourite and this is one of the finest I've tried, made all that more special with the addition of a little Matcha. Slightly nutty and sweet but wonderfully smooth and full of character.

Smells brilliant (like popcorn) and adds a nice slightly nutty taste to a green tea, the "popcorn" aspect doesn't quite come through as much in the taste as the smell but I still really like this.
