What is Pu erh Special 3 Year Old Vintage Tea?
This unique, fermented tea from Yunnan Province, China, renowned for its rich, earthy flavour and smooth character. Unlike regular teas, Pu erh undergoes a special aging process that transforms its taste and aroma over time.
During the three-year aging period, the tea leaves are carefully stored in controlled conditions, allowing natural fermentation to occur. This slow transformation softens the tea’s initial sharpness, deepens its earthy notes, and brings out a mellow, complex flavour. The three-year mark strikes a perfect balance, long enough to develop character, yet still fresh and vibrant.
Named after the Pu’er region in Yunnan, this tea benefits from the province’s ancient tea-growing traditions, fertile soil, and misty mountains, which provide the ideal environment for cultivating high-quality leaves.
How to Make 3 Year Old Pu erh Tea
- Measure the Tea
Use 1 teaspoon of Pu erh tea leaves per cup (about 200ml of water). - Rinse the Leaves
Place the leaves in your teapot or infuser. Pour a small amount of hot water (just off the boil) over the leaves, swirl for a few seconds, then discard the water. This wakes up the leaves and removes any dust. - Brew the Tea
Add freshly boiled water (around 95°C) to the rinsed leaves. Let the tea steep for 2–4 minutes, depending on your taste preference. - Serve and Enjoy
Pour the tea into your cup. Pu erh can be enjoyed plain or with a touch of honey if you like. - Re-steep the Leaves
