White Tea is the least processed type of Tea, even over Green Tea, meaning the leaves retain the highest amount of antioxidants. As such, it contains more Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), a polyphenolic catechin, than Green Tea - though the latter also contains a lot, too.

EGCG, according to the latest scientific research, holds the key to the medicinal qualities of frequent White and Green Tea consumption. It is arguably the best antioxidant available to us through Tea, one capable of combating free radicals in the body.

Free radicals are the product of natural, though harmful, human oxidation, which when left unchecked, can lead to numerous chronic conditions including cardiovascular disease and type-2 diabetes. The EGCG found in White Tea, meanwhile, can, very potentially, reduce the risks of developing such conditions. The same applies to Green Tea, but many argue that the higher amount of EGCG in White Tea makes it, at least in this sense, better.
