Description
Japan Sencha Uchiyama Organic Green Tea is a unique and flavorful green tea that originated in Kagoshima, the second largest tea-producing prefecture in Japan. This type of Japanese green tea is made using traditional methods that have been perfected through generations of producers in the region.
Where is Uchiyama Green Tea is Grown
Kagoshima's lush subtropical climate and high rainfall provide the perfect environment for cultivating some of Japan’s best tea. Soil enriched with volcanic ash from the Sakurajima Volcano helps ensure that Kagoshimian tea is incredibly rich in minerals, though this same soil must be regularly cleared to produce a quality product.
The locals call this clearing process “shirasu”, an important step to creating flavorful teas sought after both locally and around the world.
Sencha Uchiyama is produced using a traditional steaming and rolling method that has been perfected through generations of producers in the region. After harvesting, the leaves are quickly steamed to prevent oxidation. They are then rolled into thin strands and dried before being sorted by size and graded according to their quality.

Excellent green tea with a fresh, grassy taste and aroma. Be sure to let the boiled water cool for a bit before pouring and don’t steep for more than 2 minutes otherwise it becomes a little astringent.
